Airport

In the quest for the ever elusive JP Silver ( Its been just a year working and I a'int a consultant with a client paying for my flybacks) i spend quite some of my time in airports. Actually the ever increasing lines at the check ins, and the ever more intricate security procedures also ensure that quite a bit of quality time is spent admiring the beautiful Kingfisher uniforms , munching thoose Cookies and solving sudokus in the complimentary news papers at airports.

But in doing so , have also collected some unusual trivias about our airports and aircrafts . Here's some of them
  1. The Only Person who is named in the list of people exempt from Security Check in India He is a little known Exporter from Delhi called Mr Robert Vadra. The Non quizzical world would know him as Priyanka Gandhi's Better Half.
  2. The Only Religious Leader Exempt from the security check in Indian Airports is the Dalai Lama. Does that mean the Pope will have to stand in a line like all of us :-)
  3. All Spice Jet Air Crafts are named after well - Spices . I Have personaly seen a Coriander, Saffron and Turmeric.
  4. Air Deccan, Times of India and Asian Paints , all share the same cartoonist . Actually Air Deccan and Times Actually use the same Common Man. Do they give Mr RK Laxman Royalty. Well Don't think an old man like him would like free tickets on Deccan considering how late they always are.
  5. Nanaji Desmukh was the inspiration behind creation of Go Air which is run by Jeh Wadia.Last heard Nanaji Deshmukh was a staunch RSS guy and Wadia the great grandson of Md Ali Jinnah.

Its a funny world. The airports and the mushrooming airlines are true symbols of India's new found economic focus and drive towards privitisation . Isn't the Bangalore Airport owned by a company . So what if the company is a PSU called HAL.We are after all a very progressive nation.
